At Little Garden Farm Guinea Pig Rescue, we understand that sometimes circumstances change and caring for a guinea pig becomes difficult. Whatever the reason, we are here to offer kind, non-judgemental support and advice.

Whether you need guidance to help you keep your guinea pig, or you feel surrendering is the best option, we will talk things through with you and help find the right solution for both you and your guinea pig. If surrender is needed and we have available space, we will arrange intake as soon as possible.

As a small, independent rescue, our accommodation is limited and we cannot always take guinea pigs immediately. However, we will always do our best to offer advice, provide support, or place you on our waiting list if needed. Their welfare will always be our priority, and we are here to help every step of the way.

When bringing your guinea pig to us, please bring along any belongings such as hideys, bowls, water bottles, and carriers, as well as any feed and hay they are currently used to, if possible. This helps make their transition into rescue as calm and familiar as possible.

What Happens When Guinea Pigs Arrive?

When guinea pigs arrive at Little Garden Farm Guinea Pig Rescue, their welfare is our priority. Every guinea pig receives individual care and attention to help us understand their needs and give them the best possible start with us.

Quarantine and Health Checks

All new arrivals are placed in quarantine, allowing us to monitor their health and behaviour before they are introduced to other guinea pigs. We look for any signs of illness, injury or other concerns and seek veterinary advice when needed.

Getting to Know Them

We take time to understand each guinea pig's personality, temperament and individual needs. We assess their condition, eating habits and general wellbeing, ensuring they receive appropriate food, fresh hay, clean bedding and a safe, comfortable environment.

The Road to Rehoming

Once they have completed quarantine and any necessary treatment or assessment, we can begin considering suitable future homes. We carefully match guinea pigs with the right companions and adopters, always putting their welfare first.

Some guinea pigs may need longer-term care, rehabilitation or a permanent sanctuary home. We never rush the process; every guinea pig deserves the time they need to feel safe and settled.

At Little Garden Farm Guinea Pig Rescue, every arrival matters. Our aim is not simply to find them a new home, but to give them the opportunity for a happy, healthy future.
